HELP FOR CHINA
Main Subject Of Discussion At Pacific Council MR. XASH'S STATEMENT Rec. 2 p.m. WASHINGTON, July 22. Discussions at to-day's meeting of the Pacific War Council were largelv concerned with China and the possibility of a Japanese thrust against Siberia. Mr. Walter Nash said: "We worked out the procedure to be followed to ensure that China puts up the best fight possible. Now we know what China needs and how to get the material into the country." A Chungking message states that the Chinese have recaptured Kienteh. the main Japanese base in Chekiann. ;65 miles south of Hangchow. Heavy fighting is reported at Lanchi, 20 j miles south of Kienteh. where the Chinese repulsed the Japanese garrison, inflicting 200 casualties.
