INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA

Rec. 12.30 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. Alm<Dst 580,000 Australian women,! excluding those in domestic service and rural industries, are now working for wages or are attached to the armed forces. This record number of women employees is an increase of 160,000 on the number employed before the outbreak of war. The replacement of men called up for the i forces is the main reason for the increased number of women wage--1 earners.
