STOLE £5 NOTE

MOTOR DRIVER'S SENTENCE

Given a £5 note by a Maori woman, who asked him to change it for her on July 1, Edward Henry Leedham Quintal, a motor driver, aged 36, went to a hotel and did not return with the money.

The matter was reported to the police with the result that Quintal found himself in the dock in the Police Court this morning. He pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing the money, and had nothing to say.

Detective Sergeant Trethewey said Quintal had quite a bad list of previous convictions.

After scanning the conviction sheet Mr. J. Morling, S.M., sentenced Quintal to six months' imprison* ment.
