DECLARED ESSENTIAL
WORK IN LAUNDRIES DYEING AND CLEANING ALSO (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Industrial Manpower, Mr. McLagan, announced today that all laundry factories, dry cleaning and dyeing works, except Chinese laundries, were declared essential on July 15. Mr. McLagan said these concerns were handling laundry and dry Cleaning for the forces in camps and on leave, as well as doing work for married women who. were employed in essential war industries. In addition, many public institutions and others had to rely on these institutions for washing and dry cleaning. The Minister said it would be appreciated that laundries were rendering important service, particularly from the view of public health, and consequently they must be maintained.
