SWEEPS OVER FRANCE British Official Wireless. Rec. 2 p.m. RUGBY, July 20 The Air Ministry states that last night a force of four-engined bombers attacked tragets in north-west Germany, including a submarine building at Vegesack. Three of our planes are missing. It is officially stated that many squadrons of R.A.F. fighters have been active over Northern France this afternoon. Boston bombers attacked a power station in Northern France.

The Berlin radio claims that the Luftwaffe heavily attacked important industrial works near Chelmsford and scored direct hits.
