Mr. Fraser's Mission To Confer
On War Problems
X.nited Press Association.—Copyright. Rec. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, this clay. Ihe New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr. Peter Fraser, arrived in Svdney last night for consultations with the -.ustraiian Prime Minister, Mr. Curtin, and his Ministers generally on Pacific war problems affecting both countries.
Interviewed. Mr. Fraser said he wanted to learn at first hand of the great strides Australia had made in her war effort, to examine economic factors and to get an understanding of the Lease-Lend organisation set up in Australia. He wished to express great appreciation of the part the Australian and United States forces had alreadv played against the enemy in the New Guinea and Coral Sea areas.
Just as Australia was getting war supplies from other countries, she was assisting New Zealand with her problems of supply, particularly in steel and tyres, he added.
Mr. Fraser was accompanied by Brigadier-General P. J. Hurley, United States Minister in New Zealand, Colonel J. H. Nankivell, United States Military Attache in New Zealand, Mr. Alden Smith, United States Lease-Lend Representative in New Zealand, Mr. J. E. Horner, third secretary to the United States Legation in New Zealand, Mr. C. A. Berendsen. head of the Prime Minister's Department, Mr. B. C. Ashwin. secretary to the Treasury, and Mr. W. O. Harvey, the Prime Minister's private secretary.
