WAIKATO V. AUCKLAND
NEXT SATURDAY'S ENGAGEMENT The first of the home-and-home RugViy matches between Waikato and Auckland: will be played at Hamilton next Saturday. 1 The Waikato side will be chosen from the A.F.V. and Waikato XV's who met at Rugby Park last week, when the Army won Hi—3. The game took place in showery weather with heavy rain falling near the final. The victorious team wa.-~ too strong forward, its heavier vanguard displaying staying power as well as initiative. Parsons accounted for ten of the A.F.V. points, comprising a try. a penaltv goal and two conversions. The other tries were scored by K. Smith and W. Hewitt. Waikato led 3—o at half-time, a try by C. Goosman. A later message states that Mr. H. P. Ensor has finalised the Waikato XV. which will be:— Full-back. W. Higginson (Old Boys); threequarters, W. Welch (Army), H. Whyte (Army). C. Goosman (Technical Old Boys); five-eighths. P. Fowler (Old Boys). A. Potler (Waipa): halfback. B. Hallburton (Waipa): back row. W. H. Pritchard (Air Force); middle. J. Clough (Army), W. H. Warrender (Old Boys), A. Thomson (Waipa). J. Flannagan (Army); front row. J. M. Taylor (Army), C. Patterson (Army), J. Leeson (Morrinsville). Reserves: Backs. Parsons (Army). L. Wanklyn (Waipa), V. Dons (Morrinsville); forwards. N. McVerry (Waipa). C. A. Mclsaacs (Army), Waite (Army). Gregory (three-quarter). Wilson and Hull (forwards) are not available for the Auckland XV. which will be selected to-night.
