DOCTOR'S DEATH
FORMER GOLF CHAMPION
(0.c.) DUNEDIN, this day. The death has occurred of Dr. Kenneth Ross, well-known eye and ear specialist and a notable figure in New Zealand golf. Winner of the Otago title nine times and of innumerable club and open championship tournaments. Dr. Ross was also several times runner-up in the New Zealand amateur championship. He represented New Zealand with dis-
tinction in the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches and was Leo Quin's partner in the famous foursomes match in Sydney when Quin holed everything within sight to give the pair a victory. Dr. Ross took part in a British amateur championship when suffering from mumps and went on to the course ill bad weather with his face swathed in bandages. It is said of Dr. Ross that he was the uncrowned king of amateur golf in New Zealand because of his consistent part in championship tournaments for many years.
