ECONOMY OF ZONING

Maps covering the zoning of bread and milk deliveries in the areas from Pokeno to Helensville have been submitted to the central authority in Wellington by Mr A. Blake, the executive zoning officer of the Auckland Master Bakers' Advisory Committee. In the two years in which the zoning has been developed it is concluded that a stage has been reached at which the mileage has been reduced by two-thirds and petrol by 55 per cent as the result of planning to save overlapping. In the process 65 motor vans have been taken off the road, some of them being replaced by horse-drawn carts. There has been also a saving of manpower.
