REMARKABLE CURE
INJURED SOLDIERS RECOVERY FROM BURNS (P A.) WHANGAREI, this day. All the resources of modern medical practice in the treatment of burns were used most effectively in the Whangarei District Hospital, effecting the remarkable cure of two soldiers who were gravely injured in an explosion eight weeks ago. The men, who were - discharged from the hospital yesterday were:— Lieutenant Ivan Martin, Broadwood, for whose recovery, when admitted, little hope was extended. Lieutenant R. Fitness, Dargaville, whose condition was also most serious. Their fine physique and hard army training stood them well, while the medical care was of the best. The treatment used, in turn, were Triple Dye. the tannic acid and silver nitrate process, and finally 'codlivcr oil.
So successful were the methods that, neither man will suffer any permanent disability apart from tender skin. Particularly pleasing is the fact that both will retain full use of their hands, the crippling uf which, owing to grievous injuries was once most likely.
