THEFT OF COWS ALLEGED
(0.C.) HAMILTON, Tuesday. A charge of stealing two cows, the property of Christina Walters, of Springdale, and Philip Clemenger Trebilco, of Manawaru, was preferred against William Holdcroft, aged 42, farmer, of Tahuna, before Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court at Hamilton. Mr. Gillies said that the two cows mentioned in the charge* were col lected by drovers employed by the Piako Stock Drive Committee, in the , Aroha district. They were inln" a mob of 246 cull cows which were being driven to the Horotiu freezing works. During the night °L^ ay 18 were held in a plddock owned by accused. Next dav .wo.other cows of much inferior quality were found in the herd, while the cows owned bv Mrs. Walters and Mr. Trebilco were later found' 2 accused's property.
