CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS
GARMENTS FOR SOLDIERS
(To The Editor)
We, the League of Womenfolk of the Overseas Forces, view with grave concern the fact tha* coupons are required for wool to be knitted into garments for servicemen. This will cause serious hardship. Many wives and mothers cannot afford to purchase ready-made garments and the men in the forces will be deprived of many comforts, even necessities. Servicemen prefer, and value highly, hand-knitted garments made by their womenfolk. Women with several sons in the forces cannot possibly obtain sufficient wool. We therefore suggest that the matter be remedied either by (1) making a much larger allowance of khaki, navy, and air force wool available to servicemen's womenfolk in exchange for the coupons, or (2) making an allowance from some central depot in proportion to the number of mo n serving in the family.
