CHURCH TRIBUTES Various aspects of the work of Bishop SelWyn, who landed, in this country a hundred years ago, were featured in addresses in St. Mary s Cathedral Church during Selwyn anniversary services held yesterday. The first bishop's high endeavours against trepiendous odds in raising the church in New Zealand provided the text of a sermon by the Bishop of Auckland, Rt. Rev. W. J. Simkin at the evening service. Bishop Simkin, impressively related incidents that threw into relief the labour, love and patience which characterised the work of Bishop Selwyn throughout his New Zealand ministry, and the outstanding courage with which he met bitter disappointments.
