WHEAT SOWING DELAYED
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday. Wheat sowings In Canterbury are expected to be seriously affected by the present- wet weather. One authority said that H was possible that a lot of land intended for wheat would not now be sown, but while the Government's objective of 300.000 acres for next year s harvest womd probably not be achieved, a striking increase In acreage was assured. Some of the land already sown in wheat might have to be renown on account of the seed rotting in the ground. This was regarded as certain with heavy land. Some farmers had already made plans to sow other crops. A cessation of the rain and a few days of dryinp winds would enable many farmers to continue with their sowing plans.
