KILLED CIVILIANS

FRENCH SOLDIERS CONDEMNED

Two French soldiers were sentenced to death by a court martial in Abbeville, according to Berlin radio.

They were Lieutenant Rene Caron, 45, and Sergeant-Major Emile Mollet. The charge was that they had killed 21 civilian prisoners during the German advance through Abbeville in May, 1940. The civilian prisoners were stated to have belonged to a group of 78 people who had been arrested by the Belgian Government and handed over to the French authorities.

The group included Leon Degrelle, the Belgian Rexist (Fascist) leader.
