ARMY APPOINTMENT

BRIGADIER D. DOBSON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones", announced to-day that Lieu-tenant-Colonel D. Dobson, M.C., has been appointed to command a brigade in the southern district and has been granted the temporary rank of brigadier. This completes the appointments of commanders made necessary by the large expansion and regrouping of formations which has recently taken place in the New Zealand Army. Brigadier Dobson served throughout the last war with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, being awarded the Military Cross. He was appointed to command a ba Vilion of the Canterbury Regiment in October, 1940, and has been on full-time service since mobilisation. He attended a course at the New Zealand Staff College last year and had been commanding a brigade in an acting capacity for a considerable time prior to the present appointment.
