HIGHLIGHTS OP LAST WEEK Noticed in last Saturday's women's hockey games were brilliant saves by Meyer, Wesley custodian; excellent rolling in by Stewart, Mount Eden half; clean stickwork by Ruddell, Training College forward; good tackling by M. Candy, Wesley half; understanding between Bilkey and Hogben, 'Varsity forwards; unhurried, safe play by Askew, Mount Eden back. Wesley fielded a young and inexperienced team against a ir.ore seasoned University eleven. However, the Greens kept the Blues battling hard until the final whistle. Mount Eden, with a strong team of almost representative strength, failed to make the impression expected against Technical Past Students, the latter team adopting spoiling tactics and solo efforts to combat the stronger XI. The North Shore Training College game developed into a series of solo efforts, as neither team was at full strength, Training College running out the winners by three goals. University (2) t. Wesley (I).—From the opening bully Varsity were quickly away, and S. Hogben opened the score after five minutes play. Wesley settled down, and play was kept in mldfield till a nice forward movement saw the Blues again invade their opponents' circle, but a fine chance was lost through faulty ccntre play. 'Varsity's forwards showed flashes of good combination, and from one of these conccrted movements C. Hogben put in a hot shot which was brilliantly saved by the Wesley keeper, but K. Bilkey, catching the rebound, made no mistake. University 2. Wesley o. On resuming Wesley quickly took the offensive, and Ball with a fine solo run netted for Wesley. 'Varsity 2. Wesley 1. Many chances were lost by 'Varsity through over-eagerness and offside Play, despite which the side maintained its one-goal advantage. Miss Stevens and Mrs. Nicholson umpired. Mount Eden (5) v. Technical Past Students (2). —Technical opened with an attack on the left wing, McKenzie taking play to Eden's back line, but White cleared to Corringham. right wing, whose ccntre was nicely gathered in by H. McCutcheon forcing Thompson in goal to kick clear. Close plav followed. and the ball coming out to Eden on the left. Miller, with a nice run and a good shot, netted. Mount Eden 1. Technical 0. A nice pass to Eden's centre saw McCutcheon score with a flying shot, giving the goalie no chance. Mourt Eden 2. Technical 0. Play flashed to Eden's circle, and Curtis opened the score for Technical. Mount Eden 2. Technical 1. Shortly after McCutrheon netted again for Eden. Halftime found the score: Mount Eden 3. Technical 1. The second spell opened with Askew hitting hard downhill to Peterson, and this player with a bustling run beat off all opposition and added the fourth goal for Eden. Shortly after McCutcheon added her third goal. Mount Eden 5. Technic il 1 Towards the end of the game Technical rallied, catching Eden's backs out of position. Summerhays sent in a hard centre, and from a difficult angle Owens sent in a shot which the goalkeeper failed to see. "leaving Mount Eden victorious by three goals. Umpires were Mesdames Jensen and Hamlin. Training College (5) v. North Shore 'SiNorth Shore took the field with nine players and Training College with eight. Forwards Coldham and Ruddell. for Training College, proved too Eoori for the defence of Shore. These two players, combining well, netted the goals between them. M Coldham three and H. Ruddell two. Miss Conquest netted both goals for Shore.
