STRIKING TRIBUTE
Labour Party "Stand Behind
Him Tq A Man"
United Press Association.—Copyright. Rec. noon. LONDON, May 28. The Labour party conference closed with a striking tribute to the Prime Minister, Mr. Churchill .The chairman said: "We assure Mr. Churchill that we stand behind mm as a movement to a man in his determination to prosecute the war to our determined end. Mr. Churchill has our profound sympathy in the almost overwhelming burden he is bearing at present, and if he calls on us as a people for further sacrifices towards winning- the war we will follow. "Never has a Prime Minister had a more loyal party to follow him in an effort than has Mr. Churchill in the Labour party." The conference" on a card vote rejected by 1,899,000 to 132,000 votes a motion asking the executive to remove the ban on co-operation with members of the Communist party. It carried a resolution favouring the lifting of the ban on the Daily Worker, the suppressed Communist newspaper.
