Tne first event is set dov. n for 11.13 a.m. Tne going promises to be very heavy as a lot of rain has 1 alien this week. There are 2S acceptors for the .Maiden, but if there are three seratchings no division will be necessary. There are only seven left in the \\ anganui Steeplechase, but if they all start it. should be a good race. Foxiana lias been schooling so well that he is sure to be greatly fancied, while Tidewaiter v ill also have many followers. Of the others. Lady Callaghan looks the most likely and if at. the top of her form, as reports suggest, she will be in the money.
Amigo lias done well since Hawera. and promises to run a bis race in the Connolly Handicap. However, the Beau Pere fielding has not. been putting the dash into his most recent work that one time characterised his galloping, and Old Hill, whose Te Rapa form was good, appears to be the pick of the bunch. Pekoe has gone on the right way since his race at Waverley, and the Kiosk gelding can be picked oil' as likely to make a bold bid in Ihe Duke of Gloucester Clip despite his big load of 12.5.
Hippodrome has left. W. H. Dwyer's stable and is now stationed at Awapuni under !•:. Watson's charge. The Kingmaster gelding was fairly well forward when he loft Wanganui and should be ready to race by the time the Wellington meeting comes round.
Golden Acre has been hitting out in good style, and on his running at Hawera, where he was very unlucky, ho must be hard to beat in the six furlongs hack event at Marton. Black Renarde and I'iMistration should be his toughest opponents.
All Run-by is looking in good fettle, and this consistent galloper should keep 'hem all busy in the River Hack of nine lurlongs, his favourite distance.
