Australia* Commander Views The Situation MUCH AMERICAN HELP Rec. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. "The remarkable rate at which equipment is coming forward for the Allied land forces in Australia is strengthening our position daily," said General Blarney, Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Forces, at a Press conference at an Allied operational base. Australian divisions, he said, were receiving equipment at a good rate, while a factor which enabled him to view the situation with growing confidence had been the very great reinforcement of troops from America. He felt that the Australian public was now keenly alive to the threat of Japanese aggression. The carnival spirit which he had criticised some months ago seemed to have disappeared.
