SOLDIERS' WIVES
We hear a lot about hardships meted out to soldiers' wives with babies regarding their inability to get apartments, but there is another side to it. Some no doubt do find difficulty in getting accommodation on account of possessing a chilcL But that nevertheless a soldier's wife with ft child (and others similarly placed) could get quite good apartments if they were willing to sacrifice a few of their extra demands I can prove this by the fact that I am fond of children, and. living alone, would be glad to share my house with a soldier's wife and child. It is a modern bungalow, but because it is a little out of town —half an hour by tram —soldiers' wives consider it unsuitable. No; what they want is all conveniences, cheap rent, and to live alongside shops and plenty of neighbours. They deserve consideration certainly but they are not the only people finding things difficult these sad and worrying days. One has to modify one's desires to suit one's immediate requirements, and if the soldiers' wives would do this I think they would find their housing difficulty considerably lessened. VERITAS.
