SOLDIERS' COMPLAINTS

MINISTER DISAPPROVES PLAN The suggested appointment of liaison officers in the main military camps through whom the rank and file could air grievances and complaints has not met with the approval of the Minister of Defence. Mr. Jones, says the Standard. The suggestions were made by the Wellington Labour Representation Committee. The Minister said he could not see that there was any necessity for such appointments. It was appreciated that men without previous military experience felt the loss of personal freedom on entering the army and took a little time to adjust "themselves to military regulations. These regulations made ample provision for dealing with grievances and giving fair and prompt consideration to all reasonable complaints. A procedure such as suggested, would tend to disrupt the good feeling between officers and other ranks, which it was desired to foster.
