DIED TOGETHER
Mr. Angus Gibbons, of Morrinsville. lost Uvo old friends yesterday when Kauri KinK and Lady Tlidicule, well-performed racehorses of two or three decades ago, died within five yards of each other. Mates in their years of retirement, they went out practically together. Kauri King had reached a remarkable age for a well-raced thoroughbred, as he would have been 3H In August next. Lady Ridicule was rising 20. Kauri King was the first to die. and the mare then lay down beside him and also expired. Both horses won numerous races In their heyday, but Kauri King was the more accomplished, his wins including the Grand National Hurdles in 1918.
