During the battle for the Netherlands East Indies a Dutch armourec brigade captain converted the famous International Club at Soebang into z death trap for Japanese troops. A Dutch officer who recently arrived ir Australia said the brigade caotair. was enraged when he was told" tha'. the club had been occupied by Jap anese troops as thci:- headquarter?. The officer added: "I-Ie ordered z native driver to drive his tank up the steps leading to the spacious building, and as the tank thundered through the rooms of the club its j machine-guns spat fire in ail directions.
