DEATH AT 68
OIjD FRENCH IDENTITY A very well-known identity in the person of Albert Forrestier died suddenly in the Auckland Hospital, aged 68, "Frenchie," as he was known by campers from all over New Zealand, was until a few months ago caretaker of the Piha motor camp and a ranger for the Waitemata county. He was born in Brittany, France, and at the age of 14 joined the French Navy at Brest. He eventually got to New Zealand and served with the New Zealand forces in the Great War. He was one of the oldest residents at Piha. having lived on the coast for over 20 years. "Frenchie" took to heart greatly the attitude of the Vichv Government, and proudly displayed the De Gaulle Free French flag outside his quarters at Piha on weekends and holidays. His picturesque presence will be missed at Piha, as he had many friends who had come gin contact with him from all over tsew Zealand.
