REMOVING VARNISH
To remove a sticky stain or varnish from furniture, pour a little methylated spirit on the surface and let it run all over it. Leave for a few moments. While the furniture is still wet take a cloth and rub vigorously, and the stain will come off. If any is left then pour more methylated spirit on it and rub again When the surface has been cleaner' pour on some linseed oil and rub it well in. Leave this oil soaking in for several days. Then rub well Afterwards polish.
