NATIONAL COUNCIL
ANNUAL MEETING HELD ADDRESS ON CM NIC SYSTEM "To-day is the day of scientific treatment. The time has gone when doctors give patients a pat on the back and assure them they will be all right," said Dr. Alice Bush in the course of an address on the clinic system to members of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women at their annual meeting held yesterday.
The speaker stressed the necessity for close co-operation between the general practitioner and the specialist, which would greatly improve the standard of medical practice in New Zealand.
By the clinic system, continued Dr. Bush, the general practitioner could keep abreast of new methods in a time when medical science was advancing rapidly. Without such a system the doctor was forced to work in isolation, and could not possibly cover the ground.
The meeting was presided over by the president, Miss L. V. Langsford. The annual report, covering the general work of the council, was presented by the secretary, that of the maternity services committee by Mrs. A. M. Hutchinson, and the education committee by Miss E. M. Griffin.
The following officers were elected: —President. Miss L. v. Langsford; secretary. Mrs. B. Crnietreasurer, Miss Eileen M. Johnston: auditor Miss Alice Basten; vice-presidents. Mrs. A. D.
