LIBERTY LOAN

£1,000,000 PER DAY NEEDED PARADE IN CITY TO-MORROW After three weeks' campaign, the sum of 16,750,000 remains to be obtained in about, a week for the Liberty Loan. This moans that almost £1,000,000 will require to be subscribed each day. This fact was given by Mr. E. C. Fussell, deputy-governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, when appealing for support for the Liberty Loan at the Auckland Rotarv Club's luncheon yesterday. He said the days had been going faster than the money had been received. The trading banks, said the speaker, were prepared to finance subscribers for six months on overdraft at 3 per cent—whether or not they were bank customers—so that borrowers would be able to pay all but a fraction of the interest due to the bank from the first interest on the loan. An official stated last night that the amount invested in the Liberty Loan in the Auckland city area up to last week totalled over £811000 Sales of Liberty Loan Bonds in the Auckland area last week totalled £3527. To give a further stimulus to the appeal, there will be a fire brigade display and parade in Queen Street at mid-day to-morrow, and another military parade will be held on Friday.
