The Landing of \ Samuel Marsden ON December 20th, 1814, the Rev. Samuel Marsden, accompanied by a high-minded chief named Ruatara and a number of white men, arrived in the Bay of Islands in the brig "Active". Samuel Marsden conducted the first service in the Christian religion to be held in New Zealand.
