GALE AT WELLINGTON MINOR SLIPS AND FLOODING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. A wet day on Saturday, when 18 points of rain were recorded, ended with the promise of a change for the better, but the wind went into the south and a heavy storm developed. Rain fell practically incessantly on Sunday, and was accompanied by a gale. During last night the heaviest gust recorded at Kelbourn was 63 m.p.h., but exposed places got a wind much worse. The month's rainfall, with 2.84 Inches yesterday, ia now 10.44 inches, making it the third wettest May on record. The average for May ia 4 inches.

There were several minor slips and some surface flooding, and exposed gardens have suffered, but no serious damage has been reported.
