MANY GET BENEFIT

"There is no doubt the universal superannuation benefit under the Social Security Act is greatly availed of," stated the Minister of Social Security, Mr. Parry, to-day.

He said that figures taken out for the period April 1, 1941, to February 28, 1942. showed there were 40,605 persons receiving the benefit, amounting in cost to £465,926. It was estimated by the Social Security Commission that at March 31 last the number of universal superannuation beneficiaries would have increased to 40,855, at a cost of £485,926.

A person who is 65 years of age, and who has resided continuously "in the Dominion for ten years, qualifies for the benefit.
