ALLIED PRISONERS

TREATMENT BY JAPANESE Rec. 2 p.m. NEW YORK, May 22. The Tokyo official radio states that the Japanese Army has trained 1000 young Koreans,.who will shortly be assigned to guard British and American prisoners, thus freeing the Japanese guards for other duties.

Japan has agreed to permit a Red Cross ship to carry food and medical supplies to the Far East for British prisoners of war, says a message from Buenos Ayres to the Foreign Office. This promise was given today by the Japanese Ambassador to the Argentine Government, which is looking after British interests in Japan. Five months of negotiations have preceded the announcement.
