CHEEKY U-BOAT MEN

Visits To Picture Shows In U.S.

East Coast Towns

EVIDENCE IN POCKETS

Rec. 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, May 22

At Augusta, Maine, the State Director of Civilian Defence, Mr. Francis Farnum, said to-day that accurate information in the possession of police and army authorities showed that foreign agents had recently landed on the Atlantic coast. He warned to be watchful for enemy Fifth Column action on the New England coast. Mr. Farnum gave a further warning that the enemy may attempt to land parachutists in Maine.

Evidence had recently been obtained that submarine crews had brazenly landed and attended picture shows. Members of captured crews had admission butts in their pockets.
