NON-FERROUS METALS
PROHIBITED MANUFACTURES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thursday.
Under regulations just gazetted the use of non-ferrous metals—copper, brass, bronze, tin and other nonrusting metals—is the subject of control by the Factory Controller. Persons in possession of non-ferrous metals of alloys in the form of bars, plates, rods, etc., must make a return of stocks.
There is a lengthy schedule of prohibited manufactures, and it comprises the following:— Architectural metalwork, ashtrays, badges and medals (excluding military badges and medals), bell-push plates, body-solder, box linings (excluding linings for boxes for defence or medical purposes), cages, card, mirror, photograph and picture frames, cigarette lighters, clock cases, coffin furniture, cosmetic containers, curtain and carpet rods, curtain rings, decorative metalwork, door hardware, draught excluders and kick-plates, fire irons, kerbs and screens, handles, hooks and hangers, household utensils, letter, name and number plates, lighting reflectors (excluding reflectors for medical purposes), metal signs, metal strips and bars on tile surroundings and terrazzo work, novelties, ornamental light fittings and fixtures, ornamental work and jewel boxes, ornamental jewellery (excluding gold, silver and platinum), plaques, pot scourers, rods and railings, reflectors, guards and ornamental parts of radiators, showcases, solder for plumbing purposes with a greater tin content than 45 per cent, sporting goods, stair strips and step treads, standards for lamps, stationers' sundries, tea strainers, toilet paper containers and holders, toys, towel rods, trays, including driptrays, vases (excluding those of silver), ventilators, waffle plates, window frames and window hardware (excluding casement stays and quadrants made from scrap metals), and zinc plates for boilers.
