REMUERA STATION

OFFICKK WITHDRAWN

Advice has been received by Mr W. P. Endean, M.P., that the Railway Department has decided to withdraw the stationmaster from Remuera and close it as an officered station. A porter will, however, be appointed to attend to the station yard and premises.

For some time past, it is stated, there has been a falling off in the volume of traffic handled at Remu-e-ra. The withdrawal of the stationmaster has been decided upon only after careful consideration of the position, having regard to the urgent necessity for making the best possible use oi the operating staff during the present emergency
