VERDICT ANGERS CROWD

Floored for nine in the third round, and outpunched throughout the fight by Allie Stolz, Sammy Angott nevertheless retained his world lightweight title last week at New York.

Stoiz was penalised in the 12th and 1 Ith rounds for low blows, which presumably cost him the decision.

The referee voted for Stolz and the two judges selected Angott. The decision was highly xinpopular among the spectators, who booed for a long time and tossed hats and newspapers into the ring.

Promoter Mike Jacobs announced immediately that he would re-match the fighters.
