YOUNG MAX FOR SENTENCE

e charges of breaking and dwelhngs on April 26 and o ? y 10 ancl stealing jewellery , in money, and two charges of theft from dwellings of jeweller} 7 , a J°^ 1 value of £153 18/, were admitted by Robert Henry Martinsen. labourer, aged 22. when he appeared in the Police Court to-day before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. Evidence was given by a woman employed as a housekeeper that when she went to her employer's nouse in Pencarrow Avenue. Mount ■hden, about 4.30 p.m. on April 26, she found the place in a state of disorder. Hearing a noise upstairs, she went to investigate and saw Martinsen in a bedroom. Accused, who was wearing thick black gloves, put nis hands over his face and dashed past her downstairs and left the house still running. Witness found that entrance had been gained by forcing a leadlight window. Detective W. A. Duncan, who was with Detective J. Hunt when accused was interviewed, produced statements made by Martinsen admitting u offences with which he was charged. Some of the stolen jewellery had been sold to dealers by accused.

Pteading guilty to all charges, Martinsen was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
