COAST HAMMERED.
Large Fires Observed From Dover Coast. EMPLACEMENTS BOMBED. British Official Wireless. (Reed. 2 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 26. Dover observers report to-night that the R.A.F. is again conducting a vigorous bombardment of the German-occu-pied Channel port*. Large fire* are burning all along the French coast. Observers believe that German gun emplacements at Cap Gris Xez are receiving particular attention. Those guns shelled the Dover area for one hour this afternoon. Two unoccupied cottages were destroyed and two casualties resulted from a ehell burst.
DURING ALARMS. BANKS WILL CARRY ON. British Official Wireless. (Reed. 10 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 26. Banks will keep open for the transaction of urgent business during air raid warnings in accordance with a decision of the committee of London clearing bankers. If it becomes necessary for the staffs to shelter during the period of danger, the services will still be provided, though there may be cases where offices cannot be opened to the public.
