CHEMIST CHARGED.
ASSAULT ALLEGATION. REFUSAL OF BAIL. WELLINGTON", this day. The case against Edward Henrv Goldmg, aged 3<, chemist, chared with assaulting Ida Winifred Whitelaw so as to cause actual bodily harm, was commenced m the Magistrate's Court to-dav before Mr. J. T. Stout, S.M The prosecution alleges that Mrs. Whitelaw who had at certain timer; itocn livin" with accused, was in the bur of the Masonic Hotel on September 20 when Uilding entered. Mrs. Whitelaw endeavoured to slip out. but accused was alleged to have blocked her wav and slashed her with a razor, inflicting wounds which required hospital ment.
Oolding reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Saying that this was an extremely serious matter, the magistrate refused to grant bail.—(Frees Assn.)
