PUPUKE WATER.
LABOUR PARTY'S CONCERN. LETTER TO MINISTER. At the last meeting of the Takapuna central branch of the New Zealand ' Labour party, the secretary was * instructed to write to the Hon. W. E. ' Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, complaining about the state of the water ' which the North Shore residents were ' compelled to use. ' The following letter has been sent to the Minister:— "Dear Sir, —I am directed by my , branch to protest to your Department concerning the water in Lake Pupuke. The water is in a disgraceful state, and if this position still prevails during the summer it is not improbable to suggest that an epidemic may break out in the district. The North Shore Water Board has been wrangling over this question for some considerable time, and we now request your Department to take steps immediately to have the state of the water improved before the summer season is upon us. There have been reports in the Press on the condition of the water, and as a resident of the district I can say they are not exaggerated, and this branch is perturbed at the inability of the board to bring about a satisfactory conclusion to the water question. We trust you will give this matter your earnest consideration, as it is a very important one. The health of the people should be of paramount importance to the Government."
