DISCUSSION- AT WAIHI. NO ACTION TAKEN. WAIHI, this day. Strong opposition to the proposed amendment of the Shops and Offices Act was expressed in a communication received from Mr. C. A. Wilkinson. M.P. for Egmout, and read at a meeting of the Waihi Borough Council evening. Mr. Wilkinson alleged that the proposed legislation would have a highly detrimental effect on thousands of people in the Dominion. A hostile reception was accorded the communication, the council deciding to take no action.
