SMALL YARDING.
AT WESTFIELD.
BEEF PRICES UNCHANGED.
There was an average yarding of steers at the Westfield fat stock sales to-day, but prices were slightly lower than last week. Top price was £17 7/6, received by Mr. J. Scott, of Xewstead. Ox beef was quoted at 38/ per 1001b. Cow and heifer beef was quoted at 34/ per 1001b, there being a very small yarding of cows. A feature of the sale was the. donation of nine steers by Mr. J. R.. Hill, of Ohinewai, to the Sick Wounckd and Distress Fund. The steers realised in the vicinity. of £100. Competition was keen for all prime vealers in the calf section and values were generally firmer. Heavy runners declined slightly in spite of steady demand. There was a very short yarding of calves.

AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., Dalgety and Co., Ltd., and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:— Beef.—-A full average yarding of ox beef met a keen, demand. Quality throughout wae first class. There was no change on late quotations. Extra choice ox soUl to 38/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox. 34/ to 37/; secondary and plain, 31/ to 33/. Extra prime young cow and heifer beef, 27/ to 34/; choice and prime, 27/ to 34/; ordinary cow beef, 23/ to 26/. Extra heavy prime eteere ranged in price from £16 to £17 7/6; heavy prime eteere, £14 to £15 5/; lighter, £12 15/ to £13 10/; light, £11 to £12; small and unfinished, £8 10/ to £10 10/. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £10 10/ to £13; heavy prime cows and heifers, £8 10/ to £10 7/6; lighter, £7 to £8; other killable cows, £4 10/ to £6 5/. Calves.—There was a very short market and competition for all prime vealers was very keen. Values were firmer. The demand for heavy runnets was steady, but values were slightly easier. Runners, £4 10/ to £9 17/6; heavy vealers, £6 10/ to £8 5/; medium vealers, £5 10/ to £6 6/; light vealers, £4 to £5 5/; small vealers, 20/ to £3 16/; unfinished and bucket fed, 20/ to £25/; bobby calves, 5/ to 18/.
