SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. MAINTAIN FITNESS AND MANHOOD. Opening the annual meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association, held in the Y.MC.A. concert hall laet evening, the president, Mr. Jacob Elliott, referred to the international situation and to the part played by eport in assisting to maintain the fitness and manhood of the nation. In that spirit the association intended to carry on, and he telt eure it would have the hearty cooperation of fhe public in the season ahead The annual report and balance-sheet, as published, were adopted, and officers elected werV Patron,. Mr. W A Cowmi (a veteran ex-player and former EUersUe Club secretary) received a tangible tribute from the association. He had held office since 1»3«. A letter from the Air Force (Hobeonville) seeking details of conditions with a view to entering teams in the competitions, was referred to the Incoming management. Entries for teams In all grades for the new season will close on October 31. Acknowledging compliments to the Umpires' AKociation. Mr. J. Ball appealed to the elite ind old players for new members to assist in this important phase of play.
