PIANO RECITAL.
MAX PIRANI ENTERTAINS. One of the mast enjoyable piano recitals heard 111 the Lewis Eady Hall for some time was given last evening by Mr. Max Pnani, visiting examiner for the Royal Schools of Music, London. A very large audience, which included many students of music, appreciated to the full a well-varied and interesting programme which included several works not very often heard in our concert halls. Bach wan represented by an arrangement, by the pianist, of the slow movement from the Oboe Concerto (Arioso), aleo the Italian Concerto, and Cesar Franc-k bv his "Prelude. Chorale and Fugue." These works comprised the first part of the programme. Lighter numbers made up the second half of the recital. These included Chopin s '■Impromptu in F Sharp" and a "Barcarolle"; "Rustle of the Woods" (Liezt); three preludes by Rachmaninoff fE Flat, G Sharp Minor and G); "Three Fairy Tales" by Medtner (E Flat, G Sharp Minor and E Minor); Debussy's "Reflate dane l'eau" and "Prelude in A Minor"; and "Caprice" by Linko. To these programme numbers the pianist added, in response to warm applause, "Gavotte and Musette" by D , Albert and "The Cuckoo" by Daqtiin. In all of these Mr. Pirani exhibited a facile touch, considerable powers of execution and, particularly, most satisfying conceptions ae regarded intellectual interpretation. 9
