EMPIRE VETERANS.
COLOURS CONSECRATED. Over 60 veterans were present at a parade at St. Matthew's Church jesterday morning, when a banner and standard of the King's Empire Veterans, of Auckland, were consecrated. Captain J. A. Algie, who was responsible for the banner design, had charge of the parade. During the ceremony Captain Algie presented the banner, "and Captain H. Raby, secretary of the King's Empire Veterans, presented the standard to Canon Coats. The colours were dedicated and blessed after prayers, and remained on the altar until the close of the service. A feature of the ceremony was the playing of the Auckland and District Pipe Band.
Following the ceremony the parade filed outside the church, and after inspection by Captain Algie and Canon Coats marched off to the strains of the pipes.
