PAPAKURA'S MAYOR. —; _ RETIRING FROM BUSINESS. A luncheon was tendered to Mr. S. Evans, Mayor of Papakura and manager of the Papakura branch of the Farmers' Trading Company, by the staff to mark his retirement this week from the company's service.

Tributes were paid to Mr. Evans' long and faithful service and tie. pleasant relationships that had existed between the manager and staff. On behalf of the staff, Mr. R. Watson presented Mr. Evans with an electric reading lamp. He said Mr. Evans had the staff's best wishes for his future happiness in his well-earned retirement. A bouquet was presented to Mrs. Evans by Mies Ena Moss.
