... THE FLOWER GARDEN Plant Canterbury Bell*, forget-me-not#, primroses, polyanthus, aubretias, pinks, geums, doronicums, Japanese anemones, irises, campanulas, Veronicas, and other hardy roots. Divide and replant Michaelmas daisies, eridgerous, Heleniums, thrift, flag irises, phloxes. Plant rhododendrons, lilacs, flowering currants, (oraythias, berberises and other shrubs, also gladioli, liliums, clematis, honeysuckles, wistaria, etc. # Take chrysanthemum and lobelia cuttings, and prune back old geranium and fuchsia plants. THE VEGETABLE GARDEN Sow dwarf peas on well-drained soil, sowing spinach between the rows of peas. Sow parsnips; these need a long season of growth. Sow seeds of tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouse -or under glass. Sow Brussels sprouts, cauliflowers, cabbages and leeks. Mulch around fruit trees with decayed manure, burn all tree printings, and dress the garden soil with the ashes. Prune outdoor Tine*. Plant, in sheltered situations, a few rows of early potatoes. Sow early carrots and radishes on a sheltered border. Plant rhubarb; this needs deep soil. Sow celery and leeks.
