The daily occurrence of people spending a day' awaiting release from beneath the debris of razed buildings has been repeated in several districts. A man who was rescued from a buried automobile in a West End garage on Wednesday died in hospital. S Twenty-five hours after a bomb had wrecked a shop rescuers- ' heard faint cries, and found they came from a four-inoiiths-old baby, lying in a dratwer. The heaviest casualties resulted from an enormous explosion following the crashing of a raider fully loaded with "bombs. The library of the Inner Temple, the Public Record Office, the " British Museum courtyard, the Wallace Collection courtyard arid Peter Robinson's store are among the latest landmarks bolmbed. County Hall, the headquarters of the London County Council, was hit by a •bomb. The fabric of the building was damaged, but eivil defence and other services are being maintained unimpaired. "'.].< „ A bomb caused a crater 30ft wide in a terrace very near to Westminster Bridge. Two waitresses were killed and there were a dozen casualties. Lord Croft s+ated that many incendiary bombs had fallen on the Royal Hospital at Chelsea, but there were no casualties and the buildings were not damaged. N . - Their Majesties the King and Queen toured the badly bombed London areas, including Chelsea and Jfulham, and talked with A.R.P. workers- arid survivors. Cheering crowde surged around them. A time-bomb exploded 80 yards from an automobile in which the Drike of Kent was touring the bombed areas. A shower of. rubble rained on the ear.
