HOTHOUSE TOMATOES DEAR. HEAVY VEGETABLE SUPPLIES. The demand foe. normal ar the City Markets to-day,; heavy supplies haying come forward this yreek. -Peere were in good demand. Only a small quantity of hothouse tomatoes came forward, those offering realieing good values. The eale for. New grapefruit was extremely dull. Tree tomatoes -were in fair demand, the black '.Variety being most sought. . . '.„.. Cabbages were in eupply, and eold at recent "rates. Swedes were a glut on the market. Good quantities of cauliflower brought high prices. Much heavier supplies of new potatoes came forward than laet week, with prices slightly lower. Cerrots and parsnips were in. heavy supply, with quality lines realising'fair rates. Supplies of green peas were fair and high price* were etill being realised. Muoh heavier quantities of aeparagus were on the market, with values slightly lower. .High prices were obtained for good supplies ot hothouse cucumbers. Onions were in good supply and brought recent rates. Good quantities of kumarae realised fair prices. Pumpkins came on ■- the' market in good quantities, with quality lines bringing high prices. Lettuce was in good supply, with fair values l>eing obtained for beet quality lines. Heavy supplies of celery were available, but the quality was not eo good on account of mild weather. Beet quality, however, realised good values. Apples: Granny Smith. 9/ to t/J per caw: Delicious. 9/e to 10/e: Stunner. 9/ to 10/6. Tasma. 9/ to 12'. Pears: Winter 17/ per case; P. »arry. 10/ to 12/6. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultr/ was medium and the demand was Just fair. The prices were down a shade on the previous sale. Selling rates were as foUow:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime. 5/ to 6/ each; not prime. 3/6 to 4/6; light breeds, prime. 4/. to 9/; not'prime. 3/ to 3/. Fat hens: Heavy breeds. 4/ to 6/: light breeds. 3/ to 4/. Drakes:- Young, prime. 4/6 to 9/. Ducks: Young. 3/ to 4/. -Hay-old chicks: 8.0.. 3d each; L., unsaleable. EGGS, FABMtBS- BOTTEB. CUT FLOWBM. Cut Flowers. -With the exception of Iceland popples all varieties of flowers were scarce to-day. irtlcularly daffodils. A small quantity of tulips were sold at fair values.
