WITHOUT A PERMIT.
WENT ABOARD TRANSPORT. CIVIL SERVANT PINED. WELLINGTON, thie day. Stated by counsel to have been locked up in a ship's prison with a bayoneted guard over him all night until he was taken to the police station, this morning George Arthur Farnworth, a civil servant, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. J. L. Stout,. S.M., charged with a breach of tha Shipping Emergency Regulation by going aboard a transport some time ago without a pcvinit. The police said the accused was noticed- Ife /ing the ship about 9.45 p.m. Asked ■ to™pi;oduee his paes, he refused and gave a false, name. Later he admitted his identity and produced the pass, which had been cancelled when the ship was last in England. Defendant was lined £2 and costs.—(Press Assn.)
